TSE For Men Shaving Soap is Hand Crafted from Natural Ingredients for the Best Shaving Experience.

This grooming essential is a semi-soft soap made with tallow and other natural ingredients to give you a smooth, comfortable shave. It lathers easily, so it is great for newbies or experts alike. Loaded with shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter, & jojoba oil, it screams moisturizing, gliding, and protecting.

The thick and rich lather is further enhanced by white kaolin clay that provides for the slickest, smoothest shave you've ever had. Our recipe uses the perfect amount of kaolin to increase glide without providing excessive razor wear.

It's safe for all types of skin, so you do not have to worry about it being harsh on your face, scalp or whatever body part you're shaving. The only thing we judge here is ingredients. So have a look and see that there's no alcohol in this mix - just healthy oils that really are good for hydrating your skin and making your shave experience great.

Ingredients

Not All Shave Soaps Are Created Equal.

Have you ever been to the grocery store to buy olive oil? The price variations are huge, because the quality variations are huge. Unrefined, Virgin, and Extra Virgin are just a few of the classifications. The same applies to ALL OILS. Cheap, low quality oils just don’t do the job the way a nice, cold-pressed, high quality oil will.

Always research what you buy. Some of the biggest brands out there have inferior blends, but solid marketing. You don't shave with a fancy label and a nice bottle! Make sure you’re not falling for the hype, and always do your own homework. It’s your money, spend it on a product that works.

All of our products are Hand Crafted, Cruelty Free, Natural, and Made in Fort Worth, TX USA.

Oils & Butters We Use and Recommend, And Why:

GRASS FED TALLOW - A good tallow based soap should give you a thick, dense, slick and creamy lather with a lot of cushion. Glycerin based soaps tend to give you a less dense, airy type of lather with no density. When you think beef, you think Texas. So, we searched for the very best grass fed tallow we could find in the entire state. Sourced from ranchers who have been in the cattle business for generations, our tallow comes from the finest steers in the world. We use tallow to make the best soap possible and to reduce waste by using the rest of an animal that was killed for other reasons.

JOJOBA OIL - There is a huge amount of misinformation concerning this oil, and I’m gonna clear some of it up. The reason this oil is HUGE these days in skin and hair care products, is because it is believed that jojoba “tricks” your body into thinking that it is sebum, your body’s natural oils. Use of jojoba, though rich in fatty acids and nutrients that are GREAT for hair and skin, can actually make you an oily, greasy mess. Additionally, about 45% have experienced some sort of skin irritation related to the use of jojoba. It is recommended to use this oil at no more than 5% of your beard oil blend. We use jojoba in our shave soap at this 5% concentration.

COCOA BUTTER - Easily and quickly absorbed by your skin and hair, and rich in OMEGA fatty acids. Cocoa butter is very similar to shea butter. We blend it with our mango and shea to normalize the scent profile of our base recipe and to create a super rich and thick lather that is great for your skin.

MANGO BUTTER - Rapidly absorbed by skin and hair, this oil quickly relieves itch, heals dry or chapped skin, and also reduces wrinkles. Adds amazing shine and penetrates deeply to moisturize the skin.

SHEA BUTTER - This is my “miracle oil”. Though it should be used in smaller amounts to prevent greasiness, shea has some of the most benefitial properties of any oils we use. It heals and prevents ingrown hairs, absolutely obliterates dry skin, softens hair naturally, has many anti-inflammatory properties, locks in moisture leading to healthier skin, helps prevent razor burn, and reduces nicks and cuts, among so many other amazing benefits. We use shea at around 10% of all of our blends.

WHITE KAOLIN CLAY - Adds slip to your razor for the slickest, smoothest shave you've ever had. Our recipe uses the perfect amount of kaolin to increase glide without providing excessive razor wear.

FRAGRANCE OIL – All of our scents are made from a blend of essential and fragrance oils. Our fragrance oils are high quality, made in the USA and phthalate free. Some people are scared of chemicals. Remember, water is a chemical. What you need to be concerned about its toxicity and is the product actually safe to use. The super trendy essential oil craze needs to remember this: 99% of all essential oils are not safe for direct skin contact and must be diluted with a carrier oil. Feel safer now? Just because something is natural does not mean safe. This is why you don’t stare at the sun! Our shave soaps contain around 2% fragrance in our blends. And for the purists, we offer an unscented, fragrance free option.

How to Use

How to use Shave Soap in 5 Easy Steps.

  1. Pour a small amount of warm water on top of your shave soap and let it sit for 1-3 minutes. This process is called "blooming".
  2. Run warm water through your shave brush and shake off any excess.
  3. Use circular motions to load the shave soap onto your brush.
  4. Apply the lather to the area of the body to be shaved.
  5. Wash away any excess lather.

The Amount of Shave Soap Needed is not an Exact Science.

  • It depends on the thickness of your hair and the size of the area to be shaved. You’ll find the perfect amount through trial and error.
  • Building the perfect lather is a combination of the type of brush hairs, circular motions and water. The more water that is added, the more liquid like the lather. Thick, rich lather is built over several circular motions. This process can take 1-3 minutes.
  • Our 4 fl oz tubs should last between 3 to 6 months. Your mileage may vary depending on how often and how much you use.
  • We highly recommend pairing our shave soap with a quality badger or boar brush and single blade razor. Disposable, multi blade razors can be used with this soap, but will frequently clog due to our thick, rich formula.

Love these soaps.

Yes they produce a nice thick lather, and leave my skin clean and soft. Combined with my new razor, my face hasn't felt like this in 46 years! I have used The Cool Mint and Lavender Sage soaps, both very nice scents. Noticeable, but not overpowering.

Lather is really nice

I was hesitant to buy this soap. I didn't know what to expect from a tallow based since I've never used one before. I was not dissappointed with it. The post shave feel is the best I've experienced from any soap I've used for wet-shaving so far. I use a sliver tip badger brush and a merkur DE. This soap worked really well with both.

Good Shave Soap

I'm impressed! I've used this puck everyday for about a week with no problems. Lather, smell, slickiness are all great! My head and face feel better afterwards too.

Classic Barber Scent

This is one of the better barber scent soaps I've tried. Has all the right notes. not too strong, but a nice lingering scent that works well with my after shave routine. Soap performance is top notch as well. Thanks!

I've been lathering wrong for years

The first two days i shave with the soap I could not get a lather at all. I was sorely disappointed and was going to just throw them out but I decided to contact the company. They answered right away with a few suggestions, instructions and a link to a video. I followed everything to a "T" and Lo & Behold! I have PERFECT Lather now and really enjoy using this soap! I also tried some of the new method with my existing soaps in my den and found that I am getting better lather with them too! Guys, if you try this soap and can't get it to lather, this is what I received form Amanda: --Start by blooming the soap by placing about a teaspoon of hot water on the top of the soap and soaking your badger or boar hair brush in hot water for 5 minutes. Squeeze the excess water out of your brush afterward. The brush will be damp and the water on the top of the soap will have softened it up.

Using a circular motion begin loading the brush. The goal is to get a good amount of soap on the brush that will be a paste like consistency. The loading will take about 1 minute of swirling the brush around the soap and pressing down on the soap. Once the brush has a visible amount of soap that causes the brush hairs to clump together you have reached a point where the lathering can begin.

Lathering can be done in your palm, a bowl, or straight on your wet face. Apply the soap from the loaded brush and then sprinkle a small amount of water on the brush and return to lathering. Continue adding small amounts of water to the bristles and then back to lathering. The soap will transform from a thick paste to a protective lather after a few minutes.

I hope this helps you get the most out of your soap. If for some reason you still have challenges please feel free to reach out to us and we will make sure you are taken care of."-- BTW, I got Barber Shoppe and Bay Rum and i really like both scents.

Pretty Damn Good Soap

I was a tester for Amanda, one of the owners, while they were working on their new shave soap formula. First, I just want to say the customer service these guys offer is TOP NOTCH. They actually listen and apply feedback that you give. I think i tested 3 or 4 batches for them and each one got consistently better based on all the info they got back. Their new formula is one of the best soaps I've used. It's a true old fashioned soft shave soap. It took me a minute to remember that these need to bloom the get the quickest lather and to get my water right. But the lather is great! Good slickness and the scents are just right. I got my Thank you boxes on Monday, and it included Barber Shoppe and Nag Champa and both of them are outstanding!!! I'm giving The Soap Exchange 9/10 for their shave soaps. (it's really rare for me to give 10/10) Excellent job you guys, and Amanda. :)

Awesome Shave Soap!

I'm a huge fan of their new formula. Scent strength and smell is top notch, and the lather beat me expectations. The Size of the bar for the money is a great value and you can't go wrong. I received the Barber Shoppe and Lunberjack scents in my box. I never would have ordered Lumberjack, it just doesn't sound like something I would use. I was so completely, utterly, totally wrong! It's quickly become a favorite and I'll probably be ordering it in the future. A good classic Barber scent is always a staple of mine, and theirs in on par with some of the best. I'm curious to see how it smells in their beer soap?

Good Lather, Great Scent

I was a tester for the new shave formulas in a guess what they called their mid-phase, so i never got to actually test their final batch before they launched. I received my 2 Thank You pucks on Monday, Barber Shoppe and Sandalwood, and have been thoroughly impressed with how far they have come since the last batch i tested! The lather is some of the best I've ever gotten from a natural puck. Really dense and lasts. There was a slightly different feel to it than any other I've used. Very silky or velvety? I re-checked the ingredients and saw the Kaolin Clay is in there, something I don't think has ever been in any of my other soaps. It does make a great slip in the lather. Both scents are top notch. The Barber Shopped is going to stay in me den for sure. The Sandalwood was surprising for me since it has vanilla, not a favorite of mine, it was very smooth and woody without being too sweet. Definitely a complex blend that is worth using and my wife loves it. Overall, they are both great soaps with decent slickness, with great lather and scent. Awesome job guys! PS, shoot me a message when you launch your Lemongrass scents :)
